Ukraine will not receive military assistance from the United States that could affect the strategic balance of power, says Andrei Zolotarev, head of the Ukrainian think tank “Third Sector”.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with RIA Novosti that it makes no sense for Ukraine to rely on US military assistance.
“Ukraine will not get anything that could affect the strategic balance of power. Well, they will again throw rubber boats on us, something like (anti-tank complexes – ed.) Javelin. That is, those types of weapons that do not affect the balance”, – Zolotarev told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
According to him, the most that Kiev can expect from the United States is equipment, equipment, vehicles, but not combat aircraft, strike systems or precision weapons.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly warned against plans to supply weapons to Ukraine, since this step will only lead to an escalation of the conflict in Donbass. As the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stated, the supply of weapons to Ukraine from outside will not contribute to the settlement of the crisis in Donbass and the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The majority of European politicians spoke out against the supply of weapons to Ukraine. For example, the former OSCE chairman, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the supply of weapons to Ukraine is a very risky and counterproductive way out of the crisis.
