Six suspected supporters of Islamic State detained in Denmark

Four people detained in Aarhus and two in Copenhagen, East Jutland police said

Police in Eastern Jutland have detained six people on suspicion of funding the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS, banned in the Russian Federation). The operation was carried out jointly with the security police (PET) and Copenhagen police, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

The ages of the detainees are 27-35 years old. Searches were carried out at several addresses in the Aarhus area and in Copenhagen. Four people have been detained in Aarhus and two in Copenhagen.

Two of them are accused of involvement in IS activities in Syria. Five are suspected of financing terrorism by sending money to IS. One of them was a recruiter and recruited all the others, who are accused of financial support to IS.

The prosecutor’s office is requesting a closed-door hearing of the case.
