Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz stated that he is against additional EU sanctions against Russia. Peace in Europe will only be possible if there is cooperation with Russia
“I am against additional sanctions as an end in itself. What is needed is de-escalation. It is difficult, but constant aggravation is not the way we want to go”, – Kurz stressed in response to the question whether the EU should impose new sanctions against Russia. – “The EU sanctions that have already been imposed were the right ones. But it is important to rely on dialogue as well. There can always be peace on our continent only [if countries work] together with Russia, not against it.”
