Putin has restricted the activities of diplomatic missions of unfriendly countries

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree “On the application of measures of influence to unfriendly actions of foreign countries”

Under the decree, embassies and consulates of countries, committing unfriendly acts against Russia, are forbidden to hire new employees in Russia and the employment contracts must be terminated. The list of unfriendly states has been ordered to be determined by the Russian government.

“Restrict (including imposing a total ban if necessary) the conclusion by diplomatic representations and consular offices [of unfriendly foreign states] of employment contracts with individuals based in the Russian Federation”, –  the decree reads.

Earlier, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia announced the expulsion of Russian diplomats as a “sign of solidarity” with the Czech Republic in its conflict with Russia. Czech authorities accused the Russian diplomats of cooperation with special services and involvement in the bombing of military warehouses in the village of Vrbetica in the east of the Czech Republic.
