Finnish President did not rule out the possibility of joining NATO

But he said that the most important thing that can be done for security is “try to avoid large-scale conflicts.”

As Gordon.ua reports referring to Uusi Suomi, answering questions from Lapland University students during an online meeting on April 21, President Sauli Niiniste said that Finland does not exclude the possibility of joining the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).

“Niiniste recalled that the European Union is developing both internal cooperation and cooperation with the Alliance in the field of security. The head of the country noted that during the work of various governments “there was a clear understanding that Finland in no way excludes the possibility of filing an application for joining NATO”, – the message says.

At the same time, in his opinion, the most important thing that can be done for security is “to try to avoid large-scale conflicts”.
