Xi Jinping: China will be open and join forces with other countries against the pandemic

Chinese president says Beijing considers unilateral policies of individual countries unproductive

The Chinese authorities intend to pursue an open policy towards other countries and join efforts against the coronavirus with interested states. Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday.

“China intends to join hands with other countries in combating the new coronavirus pandemic”, –  he said at the opening ceremony of the Asian Economic Forum in Boao (AEFB), addressing participants with a video message. – “China will continue to increase its openness to the rest of the world. <…> We are also in favour of strengthening the principles of multilateral cooperation, of strengthening the status of the WTO.”

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing considers unilateral policies of individual countries unproductive, as new global challenges require a united effort.

“We need to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the digital economy and biotechnology, deepen partnerships, and seize opportunities”, –  Xi Jinping stressed.
