Nepal approves use of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine

The Medicines Management Division of Nepal’s Ministry of Health has approved the use of the Russian vaccine against Sputnik V coronavirus

“Conditional approval has been granted for the emergency use of the combined vector vaccine Gam-Covid-Vac to prevent coronavirus infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Sputnik V), produced by the Gamaleya National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology, a production unit of Genium JSC”, –  the statement said.

The Russian vaccine Sputnik V has already been approved in 60 countries with a total population of around three billion people. The drug is based on a well-studied adenovirus platform which ensures high efficacy and safety.
