US destroyers head for the Black Sea again

Two US squadron missile destroyers Donald Cook and Roosevelt again left the base on the Greek island of Crete in the direction of the Black Sea. This was announced by the editor-in-chief of the BlackSeaNews portal Andrey Klimenko.

Earlier, the Politico newspaper reported that the US Department of Defense decided not to send missile destroyers to the Black Sea in order to prevent “further escalation of tensions in the region and not provoke Russia at an important moment”, however, on April 19, American destroyers were dispatched.

“The monitoring group of BlackSeaNews and the Black Sea Strategic Research Institute reports that both US missile destroyers USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) and USS Roosevelt (DDG-80) have again left the base on Crete towards the Black Sea straits. Someday it will be called “destroyer diplomacy” (instead of the outdated “gunboat diplomacy”)”, – Klimenko wrote on his Facebook page.
