Russia will withdraw from the International Space Station project in four years. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov
The decision was taken at a meeting with the president on April 12, on the Day of Cosmonautics.
“Roscosmos” noted that the ISS modules have reached the end of their lifespan.
“We have a deadline agreed with ISS partners to work on the station – 2024. After that deadline, a decision will be made based on the technical condition of the station’s modules, which have mostly reached the end of their service life, as well as our plans to deploy a new-generation national orbital service station”, – the state corporation’s press service clarified.
Russia will work on its national station. RAS head Alexander Sergeev said at a meeting of the academy’s presidium that he expects funding for the project to begin after 2025.
