The new US sanctions are just another attempts to put pressure on Russia to the detriment of their own benefit, as well as a demonstration of Russophobia, said Sergei Zheleznyak, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.
“The imposition of sanctions is a strange step by the United States, which will more likely affect the banking sector of the United States itself than the Russian economy. Thus, these restrictive measures are more demonstrative and are an attempt to remind of the continued negative attitude towards Russia on the part of the Russophobic US lobby”, – said the deputy to RIA Novosti.
The United States on Thursday imposed new sanctions against the Russian Federation, which, among other things, prohibit US financial institutions from purchasing Russian government bonds during the initial placement after June 14. At the same time, they will still be able to buy and sell Russian government bonds on the secondary market.
Zheleznyak added that Russia will definitely take into account Washington’s unfriendly actions in its foreign policy, and that any illegal restrictions against Russia will not go unnoticed. According to the deputy, whipping up anti-Russian hysteria in the United States and fabricating reasons for maximum pressure on the Russian Federation are working out a program to contain our country and negatively affect the prospects for the development of bilateral dialogue.
