MiG-31 Fighter raised to intercept U.S. reconnaissance aircraft over Pacific Ocean

According to the military department, Russian airspace control devices over the Pacific Ocean have detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation.

As reported by TASS with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian MiG-31 fighter escorted the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean along the southeastern coast of Kamchatka.

“A MiG-31 fighter took off from an airfield in the Kamchatka Territory to identify and track targets. The fighter’s crew identified the air target as a US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft”, – the ministry said, noting that the reconnaissance aircraft was moving along the southeastern coast of Kamchatka.

“Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation have not been allowed”, – the military department stressed.
