Tod Walters said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready to fight Russia.
According to Censor.NET with reference to Voice of America, answering Senator Angus King’s question if Ukraine has enough weapons, training and strength to stop the “invasion” of Russia, the commander of the US forces in Europe, General Tod Walters, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now in best position.
“We are very worried about this. Both in Ukraine and their partners in the region are doing everything they can to strengthen their position. If an invasion occurs, they are now in their best position. And we are talking not only about their troops, but also the troops of their partners in the region”, – the general replied.
King asked to clarify if they could fight off the invasion “if it happens next week”.
“I think over time, that’s for sure”, – Walters replied.
Earlier, the American command in Europe raised the threat level in Ukraine from the status of a “possible” crisis to “potentially inevitable”.
