As reported by TASS on Thursday, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus, Major General Igor Golub, as part of the work of the Coordinating Committee on the Air Defense of the CIS countries, told the reporters that the Russian and Belarusian military will begin to carry out joint combat duty on air defense (air defense) on one of the airfields in Belarus.
“Within the framework of practical implementation this year, in summer 2021 at one of our airfields in the Republic of Belarus, joint combat duty by forces and means of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation begins”, – he said, noting that at the end of 2020, the Ministers of Defense of Belarus and Russia approved an action plan for the duty forces for the air defense of troops and assets of the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
Golub also noted that the Belarusian military is constantly involved in joint air defense training. In 2021, it is planned to participate in operational-tactical exercises with the branches of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus at the Ashuluk training ground in the Astrakhan region, as well as in the joint exercises “Combat Commonwealth – 2021”.
