US intelligence warns of ‘unprecedented threat’ from China

China’s cyber capabilities, economic clout and tough foreign policy make it a dangerous adversary for the US for the first time in several years

That was the statement made by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Wednesday, April 14.

She said it was an “unprecedented threat” as China becomes “an almost equal competitor challenging the United States in several arenas”.

“[China] also has significant cyber capabilities that, if deployed, could, at a minimum, cause localized, temporary disruptions to critical infrastructure within the United States”, –  Haynes added.
