Police in Brooklyn Center have detained more than 60 protesters in the third day of protests taking place in that city after a local black man, Dante Wright, was killed by a police officer there on Sunday
At a press conference early Wednesday morning, state police spokesman Matt Langer called the protesters’ actions “unacceptable” and warned of accountability for those who disrupt law and order and abuse the right to peaceful rally. He said many of those taken into custody on Tuesday night and Wednesday night were detained for “pogroms and other criminal activities”.
“The behaviour of the protesters that we continue to see is unacceptable and we do not intend to tolerate it”, – Langer said. – “It is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated when people start committing unlawful acts, destroying property and throwing objects that deny people the opportunity to come and exercise their First Amendment rights.”
Langer couldn’t give an exact figure for the detainees, but suggested there were more than six dozen.
