Pushkov assessed racial confrontation in the US

Russian politician, Senator Alexei Pushkov said that despite all attempts to transform the social culture of American society, nothing has changed in the racial confrontation in the US

Pushkov referred to an incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where police shot and killed a 20-year-old wanted black man while resisting arrest. In the same state, a high-profile trial is currently underway for the death of George Floyd, against whom police officer Derek Chauvin used a chokehold.

According to the senator, the racial divide in the US, which is embedded in the “social culture of American society”, cannot be overcome. Pushkov noted that blacks commit about 53 per cent of crimes in the United States, while making up only 12.5 per cent of the country’s population.

“The hatred between them and the police is mutual: they shoot at police officers, the latter shoot at them even unnecessarily. The latest case just proves that the summer riots, pogroms and rampages of BLM, not to mention peaceful protests, have not changed anything in this racial confrontation”, –  the politician writes in his Telegram channel.
