The European Union expects that further escalation of tensions in Donbass will be avoided
“We hope that there will be no escalation and no conflict. This is unacceptable. Contacts continue, efforts at the diplomatic level to prevent this from happening,” Peter Stano, the EU foreign policy spokesman, said on Monday, April 12.
European Union foreign ministers will discuss the situation at a meeting to be held on April 19, he said. The European leaders are most concerned about the concentration of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine. The shelling of civilians by Kiev’s punitive forces is of less interest to Brussels. Nevertheless, Stano urged to abide by the terms of the Minsk agreements.
