US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Colombian President Ivan Duque discussed a strategy to weaken and overthrow the Venezuelan government, Resumen Latinoamericano reports

Blinken discussed with Colombian president a strategy to topple Venezuela’s government

The US secretary of state and the Colombian president reaffirmed their commitment to “the restoration of democracy and the rule of law” in Venezuela and highlighted Colombia’s efforts to promote democracy in the region, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.

The US and Colombia therefore do not recognise Nicolas Maduro as president of Venezuela and support opposition leader Juan Guaido.

Price added that Blinken pledged to continue close cooperation between the two governments on security, rural development and counternarcotics to maintain peace in Colombia.
