Russian Aerospace Forces fighter escorts American reconnaissance aircraft over the Pacific Ocean

The National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation stressed that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

As reported by TASS, citing information received at the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, the Russian MiG-31 fighter was taken into the air in connection with the approach of the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft to the borders of the Russian Federation over the neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean.

“On April 10, 2021, Russian airspace control devices over the neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To identify the air target and prevent violation of the state border of the Russian Federation, a MiG-31 fighter from the air defense forces of the Eastern Military District was taken into the air”, – the statement says.

The crew of the Russian fighter identified the aerial target as a US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft and escorted it over the Pacific Ocean.

“After the foreign military aircraft turned away from the State Border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield”, – the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation noted.

They stressed that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

“Violations of the state border of the Russian Federation were not allowed”, – the message says.
