The authorities have previously made a decision to convert this orthopedic hospital into a hospital for COVID-19 patients.
As reported by TASS, citing Agerpres, the decision of the Romanian authorities to transform the Foisor metropolitan orthopedic hospital into a hospital for patients with COVID-19 led to riots on Saturday night in Bucharest.
“In the course of the implementation of the decision of the authorities, chaos arose in and around the hospital. A number of patients and their relatives protested. Following this, protesters appeared near the hospital against the restrictive measures imposed by the authorities due to COVID-19, who fiercely criticized the decision of the authorities and tried to block the export of patients”, – Agerpres notes.
This decision was made by the Ministry of Health and the Department of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to the lack of beds in intensive care units in the capital’s hospitals. There were 105 patients in Foishore in total, 13 were decided to be transferred to other hospitals in the city, 92 patients who had been operated on or were awaiting surgery were discharged. The hospital has 20 intensive care beds and an additional 90 beds with oxygen supply.
