Almost half of working Ukrainians live below the poverty line – research results

The Committee on Social Policy has conducted a study among the working population of Ukraine: the poverty rate among the country’s residents was more than 42%.

“According to the results of the first half of 2020, the poverty level according to the absolute criterion (costs, lower than the actual subsistence minimum) among the working population is 42.4%. That is, such a share of the working population could not provide a decent life for themselves and their families”, – said the head of the Committee, Galina Tretyakova.

According to the head of the sector for researching the living standards of the population of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M.V. Lyudmila Cherenko’s birds of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the situation will not improve until the end of this year.
