According to ABC newspaper, representatives of the region have met three times with middlemen who are negotiating the production and distribution of the drug
TASS reported on Tuesday ABC newspaper citing sources that authorities of the autonomous community of Madrid were interested in the possibility of acquiring the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V.
According to it, representatives of the region have met three times with intermediaries negotiating the production and distribution of the drug. One of such meetings was held on February 11 at the headquarters of the Department of Health of the autonomy, which was attended by the head of the body Enrique Ruiz Escudero, as well as the head of the investment business group IberAtlantic Pedro Mourinho. The newspaper assures that the Madrid authorities have confirmed the meetings to “explore the international market and exploit all opportunities”.
According to ABC, the Madrid government’s interest is also linked to the possibility of the Russian drug being produced in Spain. Earlier, Mourinho assured TASS correspondent that IberAtlantic was involved in talks about the possible production of Sputnik V in the kingdom. In turn, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, in an interview with Antena 3 TV channel said that Spain could become one of the major centres for production of the drug in Europe.
