Alessandro Ravalloli, an Italian politician from the League of the North party, tired of waiting for a vaccination against coronavirus infection in the EU, has been vaccinated with Sputnik V in Russia, RT reported
As noted, the Italian, who is married to a Russian woman, flew to Moscow in March to receive his first dose of the vaccine and now the politician has received his second shot.
“If I had to wait for my turn in Italy, I would have been vaccinated, maybe in the autumn”, – Ravalloli said, noting that it would have been too long for him.
According to him, “being killed because some bureaucratic mechanism doesn’t work in Europe is not good.”
Ravalloli also suggested that the EU was not agreeing to the use of the Russian drug solely because of political reasons.
The Russian vaccine has been undergoing a gradual review process at the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which approves drugs for use on the European market, since 4 March. Earlier, the EMA had expressed hope that the evaluation of Sputnik V would take place on an accelerated schedule, but no date has yet been given. According to media reports, if there are no complications, approval should be expected in May.
The Russian vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Centre, Sputnik V, has already been registered in some 60 countries with a combined population of over a billion and a half people.
