According to Wang Yi, developed countries have purchased about 60% of the drugs produced in the world.
“Wealthy countries, which account for 16% of the world’s population, have purchased 60% of the world’s vaccines. Some developed countries have ordered quantities that exceed their own population by three to four times, Wang Yi said. At the same time, this is in sharp contrast to the fact that many developing countries are facing serious shortages of vaccines, many countries are even experiencing difficulties in order to get at least one dose. This gap in vaccination rates is now becoming an unfortunate and regrettable reality”.
As he noted, China has provided assistance in providing vaccines to more than 80 countries and three international organizations, as well as commercial deliveries of such drugs to more than 40 countries around the world. At the same time, the PRC is cooperating in the development and creation of vaccines with 10 countries and intends to create regional centers for their production and distribution around the world.
