Al-Shabab terrorist militants attacked two military bases belonging to the Somali National Army.
According to Reuters, citing local sources, the incident took place on Saturday morning, April 3.
The Barier and Odhigl bases were reportedly attacked. Although there were no official comments on this matter, as well as reports of casualties, eyewitnesses told reporters about two explosions at military facilities located about 100 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu. There was also a third explosion on the way of the military convoy.
The group itself reports that suicide bombers attacked the Barir base. At the same time, a car bomb was sent to Odhigle to prevent the troops from sending reinforcements.
“We took over a base in Bariir, burned three military vehicles and seized two vehicles”, – Abdiasis Abu Musab, an al-Shabab militant, told Reuters.
He also confirmed that the third blast hit a convoy of government troops sent from Mogadishu as reinforcements.
