Hundreds of British people join protests against police law

Rallies against legislation restricting citizens’ right to protest swept the UK.

As News Front previously reported, on March 13, 33-year-old Sarah Everard was killed in London. She became a victim of a current law enforcement officer, which led to massive unrest in the community. To quell the protests, the authorities have prepared a bill that will give the police new powers to disperse demonstrations.

Since the bill was introduced to parliament last month, the epicenter of rallies has been Bristol, where security officials have beaten and set dogs on protesters. The police, despite the aggression, were supported by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

On Saturday, April 3, the rallies were joined by members of the radical leftist group Black Lives Matter, as well as eco-activists from the Extinction Rebellion movement. Promotions are taking place today in London, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Brighton.

Police in the British capital have already warned that they are ready to use force against peaceful protesters “in the interests of public health.”
