The US is talking about scrapping AstraZeneca’s vaccine

The US may not need a coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca, even if the country’s regulators approve it

According to Channel 112 Ukraine, citing Reuter, Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical adviser to the White House, said that the United States has enough contracts with other vaccine manufacturers to vaccinate the entire population.

Asked whether the US would use doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Fauci said: “This is still undecided. I believe that, given the contractual relationships we have with a number of companies, we have enough vaccine to meet all of our needs without having to use AstraZeneca.”

Recall that in the UK, side effects in the form of thrombosis were identified in 30 patients who were vaccinated against Covid-19 with the AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) vaccine.
