Pentagon chief again urges Turkey to give up Russian S-400s

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin on Thursday in a telephone conversation with Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar urged Ankara to give up Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems

 

This was stated in a written statement following the talks, which the American minister posted on his Twitter account.

“Austin and Akar discussed the volatile situation on NATO’s eastern and southern flanks, including the challenges posed by Russia”, –  the document claimed. – “Secretary Austin noted the importance of working to strengthen US-Turkish military-to-military cooperation and urged Turkey not to abandon the Russian S-400 SAM system.”
