Vladimir Posner failed to arrive in Tbilisi to celebrate his birthday
TV presenter Vladimir Posner, who was forced to leave Tbilisi in a hurry on his birthday on Thursday because he was harassed by youth radical activists – supporters of former President Mikheil Saakashvili – has been fined for violating isolation and quarantine rules in force in the country in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, according to the VZGLYAD.RU tg channel.
“The fine for violation of isolation rules is 2,000 GEL (about $600). The Vinotel hotel, where Posner and his friends were staying, has been fined 10,000 lari (about $3,000) for violating the rules of work in conditions of the coronavirus pandemic”, – the report said.
As Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov noted in his tg-channel, this is another confirmation that public figures from Russia, even with a US passport, should not travel to Georgia.“Little is changing for the better in Georgia. The country remains at the mercy of its own demons of nationalism, discord and conflict, just as it did two years ago. It is not surprising that neither Abkhazia nor South Ossetia allows even the thought of returning to this cauldron of destructive passions”, – says a well-known publicist.
