Poll: more than half of Ukrainian citizens do not trust Zelensky

Only 16% of respondents fully trust the president, 30% rather trust him, 27% do not trust him at all and 24% rather distrust him, the poll results of the Sociological group “Rating” say

More than a half of Ukrainians do not trust the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. This is evidenced by the data of a poll released on Thursday by the Rating sociological group.

“Vladimir Zelensky heads the rating of trust in politicians, he is trusted by 46% of respondents, he is not trusted by 51%”, the sociologists’ report reads. It is specified that only 16% of respondents fully trust him, 30% rather trust him, 27% do not trust him at all and 24% rather do not trust him. 3% and 1%, respectively, have found it difficult to answer and have “not heard anything” about the policy.

According to “Rating” the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov is trusted by 31%, 36% do not trust him and 29% do not know him. The Prime Minister Denis Shmygal is supported by 16%, 51% do not trust him and 27% could not define their attitude towards him.

Ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is trusted by 23%, not trusted by 75%. The co-chairman of the faction “Opposition Platform – For Life” in the Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Boyko is trusted by 23% of the population, 58% do not trust him. The Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko is trusted by 33%, do not trust him – 54%, the leader of the party “Batkivschyna” Yulia Timoshenko – 29% and 69% respectively. The Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov is trusted by 22%, 68% – do not trust him.

The survey was conducted by the “Rating” group on March 26-28 by telephone interview among 2,500 respondents across Ukraine, except for the part of Donbas not controlled by Kyiv. The error of representativeness of the survey does not exceed 2%.

Zelenskyy was elected president of Ukraine in 2019. In the second round 73.2% of voters voted for him. Zelensky’s credibility as president peaked in September 2019 at 75%, according to Reuters polls, and his support has been falling since then. At the beginning of 2020, as reported by the Rating group, Zelensky was trusted by 50%, not trusted by 43%.
