Biden wants to withdraw some US forces from the Gulf region

US President Joe Biden has instructed the Pentagon to begin withdrawing some US forces and weapons from the Persian Gulf area, plans to reduce Washington’s military presence in the Middle East

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

According to its sources, the US has already relocated at least three batteries of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. One of these batteries has been deployed at an airbase in Saudi Arabia in recent years to protect US forces. It was also proposed that the US missile defence system in theatre, THAAD, be withdrawn, but in the end it was decided that it would remain for the time being.
