To crush the Americans – expert tells how Europe will achieve the launch of Nord Stream-2

It’s not the first time the U.S. is trying to stop energy cooperation between Europe and Russia. However, the Americans can’t boast of success

Earlier, News Front reported, Donald Trump’s administration, attempting to hinder the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, has threatened to impose sanctions even on European companies. This has not had the best effect on transatlantic cooperation, and Europe has been waiting for a rotation in the White House.

Berlin, in particular, made a big bet on Joe Biden. As soon as the US had a new president, the German press reported on a possible deal that would allow Nord Stream 2 to go ahead unhindered. Although it is becoming clear now that Washington is in no hurry to change its policy, the Europeans will “crush the Americans” with their grumbling, says Valery Garbuzov, Director of the US and Canada Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In this regard, the expert recalled how Washington tried to block the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline, which was under construction during the Soviet era.

“And then the US imposed sanctions on Europeans, allies”, –  Garbuzov recalled. – “The USSR did not stand idly by, worked among these very European allies of the US, and the issue was resolved. The project has been successfully implemented.”

According to him, Russia’s entire energy strategy is rooted in that era. At the same time, the expert stressed that it is the strategy that makes the US nervous, not individual projects.

“They realize that Putin’s energy strategy in Europe is workable, that is why they have been trying to interfere for many years”, –  Garbuzov explained. – “Even the supply of their expensive LNG was arranged, although it is not profitable [for Europe]. There is nothing you can do to undermine Russia’s energy potential.”
