The dollar’s share of global foreign exchange reserves has reached its lowest level since 1995

The dollar’s share fell to 59% in the fourth quarter of 2020 from 60.5% in the third, declining for three consecutive quarters

Such figures are the lowest in a quarter of a century. According to the International Monetary Fund, the US currency accounted for 58% in 1995.

At the same time, the euro’s share rose, reaching 21.2% in the fourth quarter of last year, up from 20.5% in the third quarter. This is the highest figure since 2014.
