German authorities have decided to stop vaccinating people under the age of 60 with a drug from the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca. It was reported by the tabloid Bild
According to the newspaper, this decision was made after a meeting of the Head of the German Ministry of Health, regional leaders and government representatives. The reason for abandoning the AstraZeneca vaccine was the numerous reports of thrombosis after vaccination mainly in people under 65.
Bild also notes that after this order from officials, German authorities cannot decide what to do with those citizens who have already been given the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said the decision will be made at the end of April.
Earlier it was reported that as of March 29 there had been 31 cases of blood clots after vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine in the Federal Republic of Germany. Side effects have been reported most frequently among young women. So far, 2.7 million primary doses of the vaccine have been administered in Germany.
