Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the newspaper “Argumenty i Fakty” said that the maximum possible integration of the Russian Federation and Belarus does not mean the complete unification of the two states.
“Nobody, of course, talks about it, and is it written nowhere […]. There is no talk about unification. But the maximum possible deep integration, we are convinced, would be in the interests of both Russians and Belarusians”, – Peskov noted.
He recalled that the agreement on the Union State spelled out a sequence of steps to deepen integration, but Russia has never interfered and “has no plans to interfere in internal Belarusian affairs”.
“But we all roar in heart and soul for our Belarusian brothers, because we are really practically one people”, – the press secretary of the Russian president emphasized.
