The official representative of the European Commission, Vivian Lunela, said that the Austrian authorities would be held liable if they were allowed to use the Russian Sputnik V vaccine unilaterally.
“EU countries have the extraordinary right to authorize the use on their territory of a vaccine that has not received the approval of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). However, in this case, the authorities of this country will bear full responsibility for the possible consequences of its use”, – Lunela said.
As previously reported by News Front, Austria intends to purchase 1 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine for the vaccination campaign in the country.
