Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that geopolitics should not participate in the issue of vaccination and spoke about plans to purchase the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
“There should be no geopolitical blinders on the issue of vaccines. Only one thing is important – whether the vaccine is effective and safe, and not where it is from. Since February we have been in good dialogue with the Russian side, for which I am very grateful. If Austria receives an additional 1 million doses of vaccine, it will be possible to return to normal life earlier and we can save many lives and jobs”, – said Kurz.
According to him, Austria is currently negotiating with Russia on the purchase of 1 million doses of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in three tranches: deliveries are to take place in April, May and June of this year.
Earlier it became known that the number of deaths after vaccination in Austria reached 55. In total, 17 280 reports of side effects were registered during the vaccination campaign.
