Austria approves package of financial assistance to Ukraine

It is noted that the funds will be directed to the Austrian Foreign Disasters Fund, after which one of the non-governmental organizations will hand them over to the Ukrainian authorities to finance humanitarian projects amid the ongoing armed conflict in Donbass.

As Ukrinform reported on Monday, March 29, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, during a speech at the National Council, said that the Austrian government will provide Ukraine with 1.5 million euros of humanitarian aid.

“One and a half million euros will go to Ukraine. We must not forget: Ukraine is and will be the biggest problem on the European continent. This should not be forgotten”, – the head of the Foreign Ministry said.

According to the agency, since the beginning of this year, the Austrian authorities have allocated 13.5 million euros to the Austrian Foreign Disasters Fund.

Of these, seven million are directed to projects in African countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Mozambique and Burkina Faso. Another 2.5 million euros will go to Lebanon and Jordan to help Syrian refugees.
