Two US and one Canadian official have been blacklisted by China
The decision was taken on Saturday, March 27, in response to anti-Chinese sanctions by the US, EU, Canada and the UK under the pretext of pressure on the Muslim minority in Xinjiang.
Gale Manchin, chairman of the US government’s Advisory Commission on International Religious Freedom, and his deputy Tony Perkins have been blacklisted by China. Michael Chong, deputy chairman of Canada’s parliamentary committee on foreign affairs and international development, was also affected by the sanctions.
“The Chinese government is determined to protect its national sovereignty, security and development interests and calls on the parties concerned to clearly understand the situation and correct their mistakes”, – the Chinese Foreign Ministry said. – “They should stop political manipulation on issues related to Xinjiang, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs in any form and refrain from further pursuing the wrong path.”
