Britain-US trade deal postponed for several years

The agreement that Prime Minister Boris Johnson had hoped for after Brexit is being scrapped as Joe Biden’s administration shifts focus

The deal could help the British economy recover after Brexit, although it threatened to flood the local market with low-quality American products. In any case, discussions on a trade agreement between Washington and London are on hold until at least 2023, Bloomberg reported, citing its own sources.

President Joe Biden’s administration is not interested in negotiating with Britain today, focusing on confronting China and stimulating the US economy.

“Britain has always been convinced that securing a mutually beneficial and comprehensive deal is more important than reaching an agreement by any set date”, – said a spokesman for the British government’s Department for International Trade.

The US trade mission declined to comment.
