A spokesman for the regional governor Vincenzo De Lucchi said that these are so-called frozen arrangements, meaning that they will be implemented as soon as the European Medicines Agency (EMA) gives approval for the use of the drug
“We have concluded an agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, but it is still frozen. We are waiting for EMA approval”, – the agency’s interlocutor said.
He specified that the supplies of the vaccine will be paid by regional funds.
De Luca was one of the Italian governors who sought additional supplies of vaccines amid a shortage of doses to carry out mass vaccination of the region with a population of over 5.6 million people.
