The UK has launched an investigation into former prime minister David Cameron

He is suspected of lobbying Greensill Capital financial services company during the coronavirus pandemic, The Daily Telegraph reported on 25 March

According to the prosecution, Cameron lobbied former government colleagues to ensure that financial services company Greensill Capital received government loans as part of its support for large firms during the pandemic. This took place shortly before the company went bankrupt in March this year.

Interestingly, it was Cameron’s cabinet that once approved legislation against lobbying activities. According to the laws, anyone wishing to promote the interests of a third party in the public authorities for a fee must register with the government’s lobbyist register. Failure to do so could lead to fines or even criminal liability.
