Following Joe Biden’s victory in the US presidential election, the European Union, particularly Germany, expected a return to “partnership cooperation” with America, but this did not happen
This was reported by Der Tagesspiegel newspaper.
“After Donald Trump’s tirades, everyone hoped for a fair approach to people, for them to be heard again and to be able to participate in decision-making. The hopes of the federal government have not been fulfilled”, – the article said.
Furthermore, the article stressed that even the first meeting between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas at the NATO foreign ministers’ conference in Brussels was not a good omen.
Also prior to this meeting, Blinken called on Germany to halt the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, noting that even so, he did not rule out new sanctions in the future.
