Adverse reactions after vaccination against coronavirus with AstraZeneca have been reported in 3.3% of people since the start of vaccination in Moldova, epidemiologist of the national public health agency Laura Turcan said in a briefing on Tuesday.
Vaccination against COVID-19 in the country started on March 2. As of Tuesday, 21,194 people have been vaccinated, all of whom have received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“From March 2, when vaccination began, until today, 712 cases of adverse reactions to the vaccine have been registered. I note that this is 3.3%. All adverse reactions appeared within one to two days from the moment of vaccination and disappeared within one two days”, – said Turcan.
According to her, in 91% of cases we are talking about fever, mild headaches and muscle pains. However, severe pain, weakness, nausea, vomiting were also recorded, in one case an allergic reaction was noted.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Health, vaccination will take place in three stages. The first stage will last two months, during which time 70 thousand medical workers and social workers should receive vaccines. The second stage will last four months, during this period about 733 thousand people should be vaccinated – teachers, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, military, prison staff, as well as people over 60 and people with chronic diseases. During the third stage, the remaining groups of citizens will be vaccinated, it will end when collective immunity to the coronavirus is formed in Moldova.
