Biden’s aide Jake Sullivan said that the United States was expecting tense relations with the Russian Federation.
According to him, “difficult times” are likely to come with Moscow soon. On MSNBC, he clarified that despite differences, countries will work together on key issues.
In particular, Sullivan pointed out, we are talking about the nuclear agenda. The adviser to the American leader recalled that a few weeks ago, the START Treaty was extended for another five years.
Sullivan reiterated that relations between the two powers will not be easy, and the United States will have to deal with “serious challenges” and defend its interests.
At the same time, the adviser added that, nevertheless, there are areas in which the US and the Russian Federation can work in a “stable and predictable manner” for the benefit of both countries.
