Unknown assailants seize Iraqi vessel in Iran’s territorial waters

According to the Mavasin News portal, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom

An Iraqi private ship has been seized by unknown assailants in Iranian territorial waters, was reported on Sunday by the news portal Mavasin News.

“The publication refers to an audio recording obtained by the owner of the T-4 tugboat, in which the pirates demand a ransom of $80,000 for its release. According to the owner of the vessel, he has information that it ran aground off the coast of Iran about seven miles north of the port of Bushehr. It is not known where the tug and its crew are now”, –  the report said.

Basra MP Kazem Hamami, who provided the recording, has already promised to notify the Bahrain-based Maritime Disaster Relief Centre, as well as the relevant Iraqi government agencies responsible for “bilateral relations with neighbouring countries”.
