Earlier, former Chief of General Staff of the Republic’s Armed Forces Movses Hakobyan stated that the fighters purchased from Russia had no missiles
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Saturday evening during a visit to the village of Ohanavan in Aragatsotn province, TASS reported, that Armenia’s Armed Forces (AF) had purchased Su-30SM multifunctional fighter jets from Russia without ammunition.
“People ask why we purchased the planes. Yes, we purchased these planes, and yes, we did not have time to buy missiles. If you (meaning former Armenian authorities) had purchased the planes, we would have had time to buy the missiles by now”, – said Pashinyan, whose video of the speech was posted on his Facebook page.
In late November 2020, former Chief of General Staff of the Republic’s Armed Forces Movses Hakobyan said that the Su-30SM fighters purchased from the Russian side had no ammunition. After that, the Armenian Defence Ministry denied the military officer’s statement, noting that Hakobyan was revealing state secrets.
