Zelenski extends sanctions against two Russian banks for another three years

It is a subsidiary of Sberbank and Prominvestbank

TASS reports that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has enacted a decision of the country’s National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) to extend sanctions against a subsidiary of Russian Sberbank as well as Prominvestbank (a “subsidiary” of Russian state corporation VEB.Russia, which was sold by Ukrainian authorities) for three years.

“To put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of 11 March 2021 “On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures”, –  the decree of the Ukrainian head of state, published on Friday, reads.

The attachment specifies that the sanctions are extended against a subsidiary of Sberbank as well as Prominvestbank. The sanctions imply, in particular, a ban on the withdrawal of funds outside Ukraine, as well as the payment of dividends, interest, return of interbank deposits and loans, funds from correspondent accounts of subordinated debt. The ban also concerns the distribution of profits and capital of these banks.
