Germany clashes at protest against quarantine in Kassel

Rioting and clashes between protesters and police took place on Saturday at a demonstration against restrictions imposed by the FRG authorities due to the pandemic in the city of Kassel

 

According to n-tv channel, police used batons and pepper gas.

Thousands of opponents of the quarantine have gathered in the city centre for a rally called “Free Citizens of Kassel – Basic Rights and Democracy”. The protesters did not respect the mask regime and the rule of social distance.

When the police tried to prevent the march from taking place, there was a disturbance and clashes between the protesters and the counter-protestors.

The Hessian police are supported in Kassel by colleagues from Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia.
