US diplomats lashed out at Chinese guests. The latter, in turn, decided not to stay in debt
The two powers met in Anchorage, Alaska, amid a deep crisis in US-China relations. Tensions immediately made themselves felt. According to China Central Television, the Americans greeted the guests with criticism.
The US State Department chief Tony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to the US President, accused China.
The Chinese representatives, including Yang Jiechi, head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, had to give a detailed response to the US claims.
As a result, the introductory part of the talks, for which only a few minutes were allotted, stretched over more than an hour.
In particular, Yang Jiechi expressed dissatisfaction with the US leadership looking down on China, even though it has no such right to do so.
“Based on population size or existing world trends, the West cannot represent the opinion of the whole world. The American side does not represent the whole world, it only represents the United States government”, – said the Beijing spokesman.
